Military-connected students have individual strengths that can help them adapt to change. Deployment-related changes can also increase the need for timely support. Among military youth with a deployed parent, behavioral disorders increased by 19% and stress disorders increased by 18% (Gorman et al., 2010). This series prepares school personnel to build on students’ strengths and support their resilience and well-being. You will learn how to strengthen classroom and school conditions that help students feel connected, understand and follow clear expectations, seek appropriate help, regulate emotions, and remain ready to learn.
